How to Play

Stack & Blast is a puzzle game where you place colored blocks on a grid. When enough same-color blocks are connected in a group, they blast — and every surrounding block gets pushed outward. The push mechanic creates chain reactions that reshuffle the board with every explosion.

Drag a piece from the tray at the bottom of the screen onto the grid. A green ghost preview shows where the piece will land. If the preview turns red, the placement is invalid (something is already there). Release your finger to place the piece.

You get 3 pieces per tray. Once all 3 are placed, a new tray of 3 pieces appears.

When a connected group of same-color blocks reaches the blast threshold, it detonates. "Connected" means the blocks are touching horizontally or vertically (not diagonally).

The blast threshold starts at a set number depending on your grid size and increases as your score grows, making the game progressively harder.

This is what makes Stack & Blast unique. When a group blasts, all adjacent blocks are pushed away from the center of the explosion. Pushed blocks can collide with other blocks, pushing them further (like dominoes). Blocks pushed off the edge of the grid are removed entirely.

The push can create new same-color groups, triggering cascade chain reactions.

When a blast pushes blocks into new matching groups, those groups immediately blast too — this is a cascade. Each cascade level doubles your score multiplier:

Level 1: 1x → Level 2: 2x → Level 3: 4x → Level 4: 8x → and so on.

The audio builds with each cascade level too — from a single ping to a full chord. Chasing big combos is the key to high scores.

In Classic mode, the game ends when none of the 3 pieces in your tray can be placed anywhere on the grid.

In Daily Challenge and Blast Rush, the game ends when the timer runs out.

Game Modes

Classic: Endless mode with no time limit. Play until you run out of valid placements. The blast threshold gradually increases as your score rises.

Daily Challenge: A 60-second timed challenge that is identical for every player worldwide each day. Same pieces, same order. Come back tomorrow for a new puzzle.

Blast Rush: Start with 90 seconds. Every blast adds 5 seconds to the clock. Keep blasting to keep playing. Chain reactions are critical to extending your run.

No. Each Daily Challenge can only be played once per calendar day. After you complete it, the button shows "DAILY COMPLETED" with a checkmark. A new challenge is available every day.

Power-Ups & Bomb

There are 3 types of power-up blocks that spawn on the grid every 8 pieces placed:

Row Blast (→): Clears the entire row where the power-up block was located.

Column Blast (↓): Clears the entire column where the power-up block was located.

Color Bomb (★): Removes all blocks of one randomly-selected color from the entire grid.

Power-ups activate only when they are part of a blast group — they don't trigger on their own.

When you get a game over, you can watch a short rewarded video ad to use a bomb. The bomb clears a 6×6 area centered on wherever you tap on the grid, giving you space to keep playing.

You can use the bomb once per game. After using it, the game resumes if there's a valid placement available.

Grid Size & Settings

You can choose from four grid sizes in Settings:

8×8 — Tight and intense. Starting blast threshold: 8 blocks.

9×9 — The default. Starting blast threshold: 10 blocks.

10×10 — More room to build. Starting blast threshold: 12 blocks.

12×12 — Sprawling and strategic. Starting blast threshold: 16 blocks.

The grid size change takes effect on your next new game. Blast thresholds scale automatically with the grid size.

Colorblind Mode adds a unique shape symbol to each block color so you can distinguish them without relying on color alone:

Coral = ● (circle) • Blue = ■ (square) • Purple = ▲ (triangle) • Green = ◆ (diamond) • Yellow = ★ (star) • Pink = ♥ (heart)

Toggle it in Settings under the eye icon.

The game requires an internet connection to pre-load the rewarded video ad that powers the bomb continue feature. Without connectivity, the ad system cannot prepare content, so game modes are disabled until a connection is available.

Once a game session starts, gameplay itself runs entirely on your device.

Scoring

Placing pieces: 1 point per cell in the piece.

Blasting groups: 20 points per cell in the blast group, plus bonus points for larger groups.

Cascade multiplier: Each cascade level doubles the score. A level-3 cascade means your blast score is multiplied by 4x.

Group size bonuses: Blasting more cells than the minimum threshold awards 50, 150, or 300 extra points depending on how much you exceed it.

The blast threshold (GOAL number shown on screen) increases by 1 for every 500 points you score. For example, on a 9×9 grid, the threshold starts at 10 and can rise up to 14.

This means you need progressively larger groups to trigger blasts as the game continues, creating a natural difficulty curve.

Stats & Data

The Lifetime Stats screen (accessible via the chart icon on the main menu) tracks:

  • Total games played
  • Total accumulated score across all games
  • Total blasts triggered
  • Total pieces placed
  • Highest combo multiplier achieved
  • Highest single-game score

High scores per game mode (Classic, Daily Challenge, Blast Rush) are also shown in the stats screen.

All game data is stored locally on your device. If you back up your device via iCloud or your computer, your game data will be included in that backup.

If you delete the app, all scores, stats, and preferences are permanently removed. Reinstalling the app starts fresh.

Troubleshooting

The rewarded video ad requires a stable internet connection. If it fails to load, check your Wi-Fi or cellular connection and try again. The app will attempt to pre-load new ads between games.

The grid size change takes effect on your next new game, not the current one. Start a new game from the main menu to play on the new grid size.
